The Schloss Proschwitz winery is the oldest privately owned winery in Saxony. Events are held throughout the year in the historic castle, which was built between 1701 and 1704.

The castle, or the oldest winery in Saxony, was built in the Baroque style in the 17th century and has been owned by Prinz zur Lippe, a member of the House of Lippe, a German noble family, since 1993. Prinz zur Lippe has lovingly restored and modernized the castle and surrounding winery, making the winery one of the most well-known in the region. During World War II, the castle was used by the Nazis and later occupied by the Red Army. In the 1950s, the castle was expropriated by the GDR and used as a farm.
