The inauguration took place in 1235 by the Archbishop of Trier Theoderich von Wied. The builder of today's cathedral is also no longer known. A lead reliquary identifies a certain Heinrich as the donor. It could be Count Heinrich II. (Nassau) because he held the upper bailiwick during this period.
