The 476 meter high Wilisch consists mainly of basalt, which is due to its volcanic origin. The last volcanic activity that led to the formation of the Wilisch dates back to the Tertiary, more precisely the Oligocene to Miocene. The region around the Wilisch is also geologically interesting because it is rich in basalt, which in the past led to the intensive extraction and use of this rock. The view from the Wilisch and the triangulation column are also really very impressive.

Beautiful view with two benches

Rarely overcrowded. Great panorama. There are practically two ascent options (over the ridge and over the Riegelhofstiege).

When wet ⚠️ very rocky and slippery!

At first I couldn't find the climb to the Großer Bärenstein because there were no signs. Only then did I read that it doesn't exist. So I'll do it again. Coming from Rauenstein shortly before the end of the forest (before turning left to Kleiner B.), the climb to the right was easy to find. It may be that the Big B. is not that busy... But not when I'm out and about... There was a larger, funny (alcoholic) group out and about and felt alone in Saxon Switzerland.😡 But wonderful views. I'll try again in 2022 so I can enjoy it too.

First run up and then enjoy the beautiful view

The mountain is not designed for tourism and is still far in its original form. The climb can turn out to be a little rocky. Above all, the descent over the ranks is difficult.
