A fantastic cycle path runs along here, amidst beautiful nature 💚, and features a great rest area with views of the small harbor and the bridge. Highly recommended.

On June 17th, 2024, we asked a woman and her dog for directions. We wanted to know if you could cross the bridge on the Wischhafener Süderelbe by bike. But she didn't know her way around. She was probably on vacation in Krautsand. As we continued our journey, a couple came towards us on their bikes and told us that the bridge was closed. We then rode back with them. The woman with the dog on a leash was still standing on the path and we rode past her. Last of all, my wife. The dog snapped and bit my right calf. A relatively small wound became infected and we drove to the hospital in Flensburg on June 20th, 2024, where we were treated. We were advised not to continue our journey by bike. We therefore had to end our cycling trip. Perhaps someone can provide information about the dog owner or has met her. Middle-aged woman, 45 to 50 years old, long dark hair. Dog shoulder height approx. 50 cm, long, mottled black, brown, beige hair.

A really great bike path and almost as wide as the road running parallel to it.

Except for the bridge itself, where the sign says you have to push your bike, the cycle path is much better than the road.

Connection for cyclists from Dornbusch to Krautsand. Very good asphalt. Vision guaranteed.

Anyone who has been cycling along the Elbe for a long time in the winter months or who finds the long straights behind the dyke a bit monotonous in summer can cycle via Wischhafen to Dornbusch and then back to Krautsand on the Elbe Cycle Path. Are about 5km more, but there is food, drink, shopping along the way.

Nice sandy beach with good gastronomy. The crab roll at the fish stand is highly recommended.

The Danish King Christian IV had the port of the city of Glückstadt built in 1619/20 at the mouth of the Rhins and the Elbe. The port and city were built primarily for strategic reasons. Glückstadt was an important naval base until 1863 in order to secure Denmark's interests in the Elbe and the North Sea.
