On the square "An der Alten Synagoge" stands the Jewish memorial, made of yellow and red bricks, created by the Danish artist Per Kirkeby in 1993. It commemorates the site of the synagogue destroyed during Kristallnacht in 1938 and the Jewish community subsequently wiped out in Paderborn.

A section of the later city wall from the 11th/12th century still survives here. This city wall was later built around the village (Villa) Espethera, which previously lay outside the city gates of Paderborn. The Villa Espethera also includes the Busdorf Church and the monastery. Several beautiful old buildings have merged with the city wall and are still preserved.

Very nice place with the bench for a little break

Haxterberg and Haxtergrund are always worth a visit. They are Paderborn's Sunday room, so to speak. For me, the arboretum with its many rare trees is a real gem. Please bring some time and sturdy shoes.
