The entire city lies at your feet, offering a magnificent view and a stunning panorama. St. George's Church, built between 1690 and 1699, dominates the cityscape along with the castle. This Baroque hall church replaced a church on the lower market square that had become too small. It features an exceptionally richly carved, flat wooden ceiling, a particularly ornate chancel, and a two-tiered wooden altar. Schwarzenberg (Erzgebirge) is a large district town in the Saxon Ore Mountains district. Founded in the 12th century as a fortification to protect a trade route, the small mining town developed into the center of the eponymous lordship and later the Schwarzenberg district. Gallows Hill is a hill in the west of Schwarzenberg's old town. One of the five court sites of the Schwarzenberg dominion/district, complete with a court chair, gallows, and wheel, was located on the hilltop, giving the hill its name. A television transmitter was erected there in 1964.

History The first mention can be found in a document from 1103. The history of the village is directly related to the Lords of Isenburg. Around 1100, Reinbold and Gerlach built the Isenburg in the area of a manor of the Fulda Abbey as the ancestral castle of the Lords of Isenburg. Soon after the castle was built, the first residents settled in the valley and built their houses around the castle hill. Isenburg was a castle village and had special rights such as the status of a free town. However, a town was never founded, as the location of the town did not offer any opportunities for expansion. At the beginning of the 14th century, Isenburg was fortified. The fortifications, which extended over a large area around the castle and valley, not only protected the town, but also served as an advanced security point for the castle. The town fortifications consisted of a wall with four gates. Two gates - the "Alte Porz" and the "Schildpforte"

The Frankonia cable car was an aerial cable car in Beierfeld that was only used for freight transport. It connected the Zwönitz–Scheibenberg railway line with Frankonia AG, by far the largest industrial company in Beierfeld at the time. The location of Beierfeld train station on the Zwönitz–Scheibenberg line, which opened in 1900, was extremely unfavorable for Beierfeld. Due to the steep slope of the access road to the town, shipping goods was particularly difficult. That's why, among other things, the construction of a trackless railway or a pure freight railway to Schwarzenberg train station was considered, but these options failed in the planning phase. Due to the First World War, there was a shortage of horses for shipping purposes. The situation became increasingly worse, especially for Frankonia AG, which produced military items, as urgently needed deliveries of goods accumulated at the Beierfeld train station.
