Very nice for cooling down

The castle was built in the 12th century to secure the trade route from Frankfurt to Leipzig by the "Lords of Liebesberg", who were first mentioned in documents in 1222. With the death of Friedrich von Lißberg in 1396, the Lißberg family died out. Johann von Rodenstein, a brother-in-law of Friedrich, took possession of the castle and from then on called himself Johann von Rodenstein and Lißberg. In 1415, the counts Johann II and Gottfried IX von Ziegenhain took the castle by force and three years later (1418) sold half to the Landgrave Ludwig I of Hesse. After the death of the last count of Ziegenhain, Johann II, in 1450, the castle and office of Lißberg fell entirely to the Landgrave of Hesse. In the Hessian inheritance division of 1604, the castle and office of Lißberg came to the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt. Source: Wikipedia

The castle was built in the 12th century and today only the keep, also called Lißberger Krautfass, remains.

The whole slope is an excellently maintained… beautifully landscaped garden… fruit cultivation… herb and flower beds… very finely labelled

Great preserved complex with lots of things worth seeing around it.. you should treat yourself

The castle in the beautiful castle park is simply great. You can sleep well here in the hotel.

Four times a year, sales events are held in the castle park and in the castle interior - in spring, summer, autumn and winter. These are signposted widely throughout the Wetterau and are always well attended. Depending on the season, appropriate stalls are set up... So there is garden magic with garden decorations and plants, winter magic with Christmas decorations and gingerbread, but there are always snack stalls with every conceivable attack on the figure.😅😅
