The old town in Lauterbach with its many half-timbered houses is highly recommended.

Very beautiful half-timbered houses in the town centre and numerous places to stop for a bite to eat.

I have to correct my tip from 2022. The opening times in the beer garden at the Music Academy are only Friday to Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

As a slasher, I have to agree with Andreas Bikefan. However, if you want to eat something for lunch, it is worth taking the cycle path to Fulda via Pfordt and stopping there at the Landgasthof Porta (located directly on the cycle path) (https://landgasthof-porta.de/). Those who get lost here might still have the chance to get one of the guest rooms. If you want to refresh yourself the next morning in summer, you can cycle the 1000 m to the Pfordter See and swim a few lengths there or relax on one of the sunbathing lawns before the cycle path continues south/east/north/west. From here you can get almost anywhere via one of the many well-developed cycle paths.

Very nice railway bike path. The first part of the cycle path does not yet run on the former railway line, but that doesn't matter. The cycle path leads through beautiful varied nature. There is always a nice place to rest. Arriving at the highest point, a kiosk with refreshments and small delicacies awaits you. I can only recommend the cycle path, we will use it again. 😉

A very nice train cycle path, which is approx. 70 km long and leads from Neustadt (Hesse) to Niederaula. There are countless opportunities to linger and discover something new along the cycle path.

You can also stop off in the beer garden at the Music Academy. Opening hours except Monday from 3:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m.
