A fast route that is easy to drive with many vantage points

The views of the countryside are simply impressive from here. The idea that the heavy steel giants used to drive here is breathtaking. Pedestrians and cyclists were once not to be found on this bridge (no access to traffic routes). Great these days, just glide over it, stop and enjoy the perspectives.

Great for cycling, great views...

Of course it also depends on where you drive from... We started in Korbach and most of the way is downhill. Of course it can be different. In the heiress, there are no major climbs.

Very nice Ederseebahn cycle path from Korbach to Buhlen, approx. 27 km, built on an old railway line. From Buhlen you can reach the Edersee very quickly via Affoldern. A round tour from Korbach via the cycle path to the Edersee, along the lake and via Nieder-Werbe, Ober-Werbe, Alraft, Meineringhausen (again ascent to the railway cycle path) back to Korbach with approx. 53 km is recommended.

The viaduct (also known as the Reiherbach Bridge) is a seven-arched, 193 m long and 28 m high railway bridge that is used as a cycle path.

Simply wonderful to ride the Ederbahnradweg! I can only recommend it and if you continue the tour directly on the lake you also have a nice change from the tarred cycle path.

It's a lot of fun and totally relaxed cycling to use the train line from Korbach to Bad Wildungen, which has been converted into a cycle path, as a feeder to the Edersee! Wonderful seats line the path along the cycle path with some fantastic views of the Upland!
