The castle is privately owned.

There's actually not much left to see of the castle, but the area is certainly beautiful. I recommend the little detour.

The beautiful castle in Amecke has been owned by the von Wrede family since 1338. The house, known in 1397 as "castrum Adenbecke", was divided into an upper and lower house in 1419. The upper house came to the von Heigen or Heggen and Droste zu Füchten families through marriage. The lower house remained in the continuous possession of the von Wrede family, who bought back the upper house in 1758 and were thus able to reunite the entire property. Unfortunately, the castle is not available for public tours. But you can have a wonderful party here. If you are looking for an extraordinary place for your event, be a guest at the castle. Laer Castle is a moated castle in the Laer district of Meschede. The property was first mentioned in the 13th century. At this point there was a medieval low castle, which was converted into a castle after it became the property of the von Westphalen family in the 17th century.

The ruins of Peperburg and above all the neighboring quarry belong to the Sauerland soul places. So take the time to visit not only the castle but also the limestone quarry, which is overgrown with grass and ivy and surrounded by beeches.
