The tunnel cave, together with the Friedrichs and Feldhof caves, belongs to a common cave system in the Hönnetal, through which two streams flow. This system forms a geologically and hydrologically connected unit that reflects the region's complex subterranean waterways​​.

Short but steep climb. Be careful on the train tracks! Right at the entrance of the cave you have to climb over a ledge. Then about 5 meters further and the cave is already over.

The cave is about 35 m long. At the end of the tube cave there is an approximately 20 m² room. Skeletal finds indicate that the room was used as a ritual / burial site during the Bronze or Iron Age. Bats hibernate here from November to April. In 1891 Emil Carthaus undertook an excavation in the mortuary. Further excavations followed in the following years. Human bones and burial goods were found. It has not yet been clarified whether the cave was a burial site or a ritual sacrificial site. The cave is a tube cave with an end hall. The narrowest part of the access road measures approximately 40 cm.
