The observation tower, built in 2005, stands at the highest point of the Sopron Mountains in Hungary (557 m). The observation point is worth a visit from Brennbergbánya. Only a few hiking trails cross this part of the park forest. The reason for this is that during the Iron Curtain era, it was only possible to enter this region with a special permit, or nature reserves stretch across the former border zone. Since 2016, a game management and hunting educational trail has led to the observation tower, where you can find your way around the secrets of the game management and hunting world with interactive information boards and game management facilities.[visitsopron.com}

7月 2, 2024, Schloss Kobersdorf
The castle was built around 1528 from a medieval castle complex. Today, the Renaissance castle is a venue for concerts, exhibitions and seminars. You can also rent parts of the castle for your celebrations. Guided tours are also possible by arrangement.

I didn't think that it would be so steeply uphill at the end. It's a great way to rediscover the area you thought you knew well.

Kobersdorf Castle was built around 1528 from a medieval castle. In 1683 the complex was taken by the Turks and partially destroyed. After years of decay, the castle was bought and renovated by an architect in 1963. Today it is owned by her daughter and can only be viewed during events. You can find more information about the castle games at https://www.schlossspiele.com/.

6月 28, 2023, Magasbérci Kilátó (Aussichtsturm)
The Magas-bérci Lookout Tower is another of its kind in Sopron and its surroundings. It offers a wonderful panoramic view of the surrounding country. Tables and benches invite you to linger.

At this point is the "center stone". Geographic data show the exact center of Burgenland. Next to it is a chapel and shady trees. There is a nice view on top. A short stop is practically mandatory.

7月 15, 2022, Franz Liszt Birthplace
Franz Liszt was born in this house on October 22, 1811. With its 6 rooms, it used to be the stateliest house in this area. Today it houses a museum. Directly opposite is a modern concert hall. The house is certainly the top highlight in Raiding and worth a visit. Guided tour dates and admission prices can be found on the homepage.

Unfortunately I couldn't find the tower at the position marked on Komoot, but I think that means the Poloskás-bérci kilátó, which is a little further away.

The focal point is of course not the chapel, but the measured stone with its border. There is also a tablet with the geographical data on the stone. And next to the medlar tree there are also a cherry and a sour cherry tree.

The loquat tree next to the chapel is very nice, especially in autumn when it bears fruit!

3月 14, 2021, Franz Liszt Birthplace
22 October 1811 – 31 July 1886) was a Hungarian composer, virtuoso pianist, conductor, music teacher, arranger, and organist of the Romantic era. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of all time.[1] He was also a writer, philanthropist, Hungarian nationalist, and Franciscan tertiary. Liszt gained renown in Europe during the early nineteenth century for his prodigious virtuosic skill as a pianist.[2] He was a friend, musical promoter and benefactor to many composers of his time, including Frédéric Chopin, Charles-Valentin Alkan, Richard Wagner, Hector Berlioz, Robert Schumann, Clara Schumann, Camille Saint-Saëns, Edvard Grieg, Ole Bull, Joachim Raff, Mikhail Glinka, and Alexander Borodin. A prolific composer, Liszt was one of the most prominent representatives of the New German School (German: Neudeutsche Schule). He left behind an extensive and diverse body of work that influenced his forward-looking contemporaries and anticipated 20th-century ideas and trends. Among Liszt's musical contributions were the symphonic poem, developing thematic transformation as part of his experiments in musical form, and radical innovations in harmony.[3]
