Starvation Creek State Park can be easily overlooked by tourists. It is situated at the base of the steep walls of the Columbia Gorge. Starvation Creek State Park's most popular spot is only 100 feet north from the staircase; it's called Starvation Creek Waterfall; and from the trailhead, it's at the end of a boardwalk, 50 feet from the parking area. Picnic tables feature views of the falls; it's a great place to cool down on a hot day and a perfect spot to eat a packed lunch.

With mountain, waterfall, and forest trails, Starvation Creek State Park is a popular spot for hiking and trail running. The paved Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail passes by the State Park headquarters and provides access to a number of the hiking trails on the property.

The Bridge of the Gods spans the Columbia River and marks the border between Washington and Oregon. It was completed in 1926, then elevated and extended in 1938. The famous Pacific Crest Trail crosses the river using the bridge.

This is a splendid waterfall surrounded by basalt walls. A breathtaking spot!

Here, you get stunning views of the Columbia Gorge and Mount Hood.

Dry Creek Falls is a beautiful basalt plunge waterfall that gets much less traffic than a lot of the other waterfalls in the area. The well-maintained Pacific Crest Trail provides a good hiking surface for this hike.

Cascade Locks sits at the Columbia River and is the last town in Oregon before you leave the state into Washington over the iconic Bridge of the Gods. The small town has a general store, a post office, restaurants and some accomodation. The Ale House is very hiker friendly and welcomes PCT hikers with a free beer. Highly recommened! And don't forget to ask for the hiker special that is not on the menu. You will be served a giant burger sandwiched between two small pizzas.
