The historic port of Tönning impresses with its centuries-old history and its picturesque appearance. The historic port was founded in 1613. At that time, the historic port of Tönning served as an anchor point for ships that brought the surpluses from the agriculture of Eiderstedt to Western Europe. The Tönning shrimp boats, service ships of the Water and Shipping Authority and numerous pleasure boats are still moored here today. It is considered one of the most beautiful ports on the west coast of North Friesland. The most impressive building near the port of Tönning is probably the packing house. Built in 1783, it served for many years as a storage location for wood, hard coal and much more.
