Steckborn, in the eastern Swiss dialect Steckbore [ˈʃtɛkχˌbɔrə],[6] is a village[7] and a municipality in the Swiss canton of Thurgau. It belongs to the district of Frauenfeld. The municipalities of Steckborn, Gündelhart-Hörhausen, and Salen-Reutenen formed the municipal municipality of Steckborn in the Steckborn district until 1998; the municipality of Mammern belonged to it until 1992.[8] In 1993, the municipality of Steckborn was transformed into the political municipality of Steckborn.[9] Based on the town and market rights granted to Steckborn by Emperor Henry VII on January 26, 1313, it calls itself the City of Steckborn.
