Manatawny Creek is a tributary of the Schuylkill River. The name apparently comes from the Lenape term 'Man'en'tau'wata'wik,' which translates to "here we drink."

The valve house was built in the 1880s and used to control the flow of water from the reservoir, created from the damming of Antietam Creek. Now the valve house sits in disrepair, with plants and trees growing out of the bricks. There is no public access to the valve house, but you can see it as you ride along Angora Road.
