The classic ascent to the Furka Pass is the eastern route from Realp, which is also often used in the Tour de Suisse. At the edge of Realp, you pass the access point for the historic Furka Railway and can already see the adventurous road climbing upwards. It quickly becomes clear that this pass is by no means an easy one, as the lower section, which is winding, boasts double-digit gradients.

Since the tunnel on the Grimsel Pass road is only accessible by bike downhill, you'll have to take the old pass road. However, it's not a must, as the path, part of which is cobblestone, is much more beautiful and spectacular anyway.

The Grimsel offers a very respectable difference in altitude, particularly from Innertkirchen, spectacular views in the upper third and a beautiful pass - definitely worth a ride. If you can, we recommend riding in the morning hours, the sunrise at the top of the pass is something very special.

The BICIGRILL is a very recent architectural structure (as of 09/28/2023 the structure was completed externally but all parts of the finishes and furnishings are missing inside) created with the aim of being a place of refreshment for cyclists and hikers but also shelter for the night. It is located on the Riale-Bedretto cycle route established by the INTERREG project which began work on creating and rebuilding paths in 2019. This structure was built on the foundations of the old Guardia di Finanza barracks which, given the state in which it was located, was demolished. The San Giacomo pass has a strong symbolic value for the area in which it is located, in fact it can be considered an umbilical cord of intense cultural and commercial exchanges between the two regions. Today, even more so, with a view to leisure and sport. The project we have involves the construction of a rest point for cyclists with some beds that will serve as support on a hiking route which will be even more popular with the development of the cycle path. The new cycle route corresponds to the missing link of a route that from Airolo, at the foot of the Gotthard Pass, will reach Lake Maggiore from where numerous other connections can be opened. The route will be marked with signs for around eighty kilometers and on the Italian side it will wind from Formazza along the Antigorio valley to Domodossola.

Brilliant transition from Val Formazza to Bedretto Valley. Can be done excellently with a gravel bike. To descend into the Bedretto Valley, it is best to take the traverse towards the Gorno Gries hut and then push down onto the Nufenen pass road.
