10月 1, 2025, Schloss Dorfheim
The origins of Dorfheim Castle are obscure. The manorial residence was first mentioned in 1331 in connection with the Vogtturm (Vogt Tower) in Zell am See. This document also mentions the Hunt family, bastards of the Counts of Plain, who subsequently made Dorfheim Castle their seat of power – at least from 1369 onward. In 1601, Josef Hunt thoroughly rebuilt the castle.

The Pinzgauer Heimatmuseum Schloss Ritzen in Saalfelden is visited by thousands of interested visitors every year, making it one of the most important museums in the state of Salzburg. The museum was awarded the museum seal of quality for the excellent way in which it presents the individual exhibits. 24 departments are full of valuable exhibits about the history and life in the region. On 1200 m² of exhibition space and four floors you will find a mineral exhibition, prehistoric finds, details about geology, archaeology, hunting and religious folk art, the largest nativity scene collection in Austria as well as interesting facts about rural living, traditional costumes, handicrafts, agriculture and customs. In the extremely modern mineralogy department, visitors have the opportunity to "take a close look" at the smallest minerals themselves and marvel at them using special microscopes. Regular special exhibitions round off the diverse range of offerings. Info: July, August, September Tue-Sun: 11:00-17:00 Ticket office closes at 16:00 January, February, May, June, October, December Thu-Sun: 11:00-17:00 Ticket office closes at 16:00 https://www.museum-saalfelden.at

In 1582, Baron Dietrich von Kuen-Belasy, Baron von Chiemsee, bought the estate of Peter Kammerer. He built the palace and the chapel. In 1617, Bishop Johann Paulus Ciruletti consecrated the palace chapel. In 1711, parts of the chapel and the top floor of the palace were destroyed by a fire controlled by Fischhorn. In 1785 Josef Neumayer became the tenant of the estate.

The origin of this castle dates back to about 1200. After a fire in 1920, the castle was renovated in its current form. In 1938 the castle was expropriated by the National Socialists and used by the SS. In May 1945 Hermann Göring was captured by American soldiers in the castle. Now the beautiful halls and rooms have been transformed into spacious and comfortable apartments with a royal touch

The first documented owner of the property was Polykarp Hunt in 1466. Lukas and Peter, the Kammerers, are mentioned as landlords around 1600. There is unlikely to have been a noble von Kammer family. Dietrich Khuen von Belasy acquired the Kammerhof estates from Peter Kemmerer and his son-in-law Georg Guthund between 1610 and 1614, freed them from the Hunt manorial lordship and built a castle there. The castle chapel was added in 1617 and consecrated by Bishop Johann Paulus Ciruletti. The estate remained in the possession of the Khuen von Belasy family. Mentioned are Siegmund Khuen (1640), Hans Christoph and Dietrich, the sons of Siegmund (1648), Georg Dietrich Khuen (1675), and May Preisgott Khuen (1707). In 1711 the property and chapel burned down. Reconstruction only began after the Khuen von Belasy's property in the whole of Pinzgau was sold to the Diocese of Chiemsee in 1722. The bishops had the property managed by their caretakers at Fischhorn Castle. After secularization, Josef Neumayer acquired the property from the Bavarian Finance Chamber in 1812 by auction, having already been the tenant of the estate since 1785. The property is still owned by the Neumayer family today.
