Coming from the south, the greatest effort begins here. The castle itself is definitely worth seeing.

Beautiful and exciting. The paths are very well signposted and developed with bridges and stairs in places where it gets difficult. Highly Recommended

Fernstein Castle is located directly on the Via Claudia Augusta and the Wannig circuit that partly follows it. Coming from the Fernpass you can touch it on a wonderful S0 trail with a magnificent view of the Fernsteinsee. If you have time, you can take a break here.
