Beautiful climb! Can be extremely dangerous on slippery or wet surfaces.

Unfortunately, I was unlucky - on an otherwise sunny day, a bunch of clouds appeared on the summit right during my summit break, obscuring the view...

The highest peak in the district of Rosenheim. Nice crossing from the little brother in the north or from/to the Steilner Joch via the easy ridge path. You won't find hordes of mountain hikers here either.

A really worthwhile destination (1986 m) with wide views. The local neighbours such as Rotwand, Wendelstein, Schinder and Guffert are clearly visible, but the view extends to the main Alpine ridge and the Central Alps with the Großvenediger and Großglockner. The easiest way up is from the Ackernalm, only 600 metres in altitude and about two hours. The further route to the Krenspitze is easy (T2), after that it becomes uncomfortable (T5).

Great! Coming from Bayrischzell, it's certainly not an easy climb, but still doable. Great descent. Also popular with motorcycles and Porsche convertibles, though. The speed limit is 60 km/h, so you don't get in the way of cars so much, at least on the downhill.

Current info Easter 2023 - Coming from Bayrischzell almost snow-free but everything mobile to misery saddle. Danger of falling rocks and ice in the gorge in the lower part. From the Misery saddle to the Pfanngraben junction, there is still a lot of snow cover. Before 10 a.m. and current <8°C with previous night frost, it is easy to drive on snow. After 10 a.m. it was too soft to ride in the flatter and sunnier sections (total weight of bike and rider almost 100kg, 57mm gravel tires). But despite small sliding sections in the snow, it was a lot of fun!

The Great Traithen truly offers a fantastic view. The summit area is not very large and yet often well visited, which is why the opportunities to linger are unfortunately somewhat "manageable". To do together with Vogelsang, Kleiner Traithen and Steilnerjoch over a very nice tightrope hike :-)
