1177年以降、城にはバーベンベルク家の傍系が住んでいました。当初はビザンツ皇帝フラウィウス・マヌエル1世の姪であるテオドラの寡婦の居城として意図されていました。ハインリヒ若公（1236年）の死後、その所領はバーベンベルク家の本家に戻りました。城は1529年までしか持ちこたえられず、その年の第一次ウィーン包囲戦で炎の餌食となりました。1556年には落雷により完全に焼失しました。その後、城は荒廃に任され、クラウゼン地区の家屋の建材として利用されました。

メードリンガー・クラウゼンへの岩の多い斜面にある、カレンダーベルクの松林の中にある人工的な遺跡。1809年にヨハン1世・フォン・ウント・ツー・リヒテンシュタイン侯爵が古い「監視小屋」の跡地に建てた。
