The Hüttenwaldschlucht in Spiegelberg is a beautiful, unspoilt stream valley in the Swabian-Franconian Forest. It is known for its striking sandstone rock faces, semi-caves and a small waterfall. The path through the gorge is narrow and slippery in wet weather, so sturdy footwear is required. It offers hikers a scenic and romantic experience. Magnificent views of the area around Großbottwar. Looking west, you can see the narrow band of the A81 motorway and the mostly heavy traffic on it.

Drainage of the lake began at the end of 2020. The Breitenauer See flood retention basin must undergo an in-depth safety inspection as required by law. To do this, all of the water had to be drained so that all safety-relevant systems could be examined and repaired. Even when empty, there are interesting insights to be gained. Water is now being filled in again (as of December '21) and is almost full again (As of Nov '22).
