According to records, an “old castle” must have stood here around 1655. There probably never was a noble family based on the Burgbach rock. Unfortunately nothing remains. Source: https://www.alleburgen.de/bd.php?id=11224 You can use a circular path to ascend and descend the Burgbach rocks: up the stone stairs to the pavilion and down along a path (or vice versa, depending on your taste). The view from the rock is incredible, especially when the weather is nice...

Next to the viewing pavilion is a large table with benches. Here we were able to enjoy a hearty snack.

A beautifully situated Vesperstube with a great view from the terrace, with milk, bibilis cheese, bread etc. made in-house... extremely tasty and at really reasonable prices. A stop is worthwhile in any case. The service was also very friendly, attentive and fast. Highly Recommended!

Quaint Naturfreundehaus with simple food but very friendly staff. Always good for a break.

The journey is the destination? Not at our Renchtalhütte in Bad Peterstal-Griesbach! The Black Forest, Alsatian and French specialties are so delicious, the view so beautiful, the atmosphere so enchanting and cozy that it's not "We're going hiking", but "We're hiking to the Renchtalhütte!" It's a wonderful spot high above the Renchtal, where the Renchtalhütte, as a "rustic branch" of the Dollenberg Hotel, knows how to pamper visitors in a down-to-earth way. With homemade Maultaschen with onion jus, Alsatian "Bäckeoffe", Bibileskäs, smoked Black Forest trout, sausage in a jar, cracklings, onion roast beef, fondue and raclette and, and, and. Prepared with that certain something in the Dollenberg kitchen under the direction of star chef Martin Herrmann. And served by friendly staff who love service. Very good food with a nice sun terrace and the opportunity for children to play in the playground or feed the goats.

Beautiful observation tower with a great view. Good food at reasonable prices. The rooms for overnight stays are also completely reasonable in price. Everything is clean.
