The namesake of the popular Huxel grape, Fritz Huxel (1892-1972), lived here in Westhofen, near the mill wheel on the Seebach. He worked closely with the State Institute for Grape Breeding in Alzey and with his friend Georg Scheu, and made great progress in viticulture as a whole. (Every second weekend in May, everything in Alzey revolves around the famous grape breeder Georg Scheu and his variety "Sämling 88", which is popular far beyond Alzey. Better known as Scheurebe.)

The well-paved back road seems like a paradoxical promise. At first glance, it reveals itself as an inviting path that allows me to drive smoothly and gives an illusion of lightness. But in the midst of this gentle movement, I start to feel that the smooth asphalt only masks the surface of my own insecurities. The silence of the surroundings intrudes as I ponder whether the quiet path really means freedom or whether it is simply leading me into a new form of imprisonment. The asphalt, so even and flawless, forces me to recognize my own unevenness - the doubts and fears that follow me like shadows. In that moment, the journey becomes a silent dialogue with myself, and the road that shows me the way becomes a mirror of my inner conflict.
