The construction was partially funded by donations. Steps and steel girders bear the names of donors. For the ascent, a small contribution is requested in a collection box at the bottom of the stairs to finance the upkeep (March 2021: adults 1 €, families 2 €).

Excerpt from the commemorative publication, which can be read directly on the hood: "Our hood - a vantage point of superlatives. At 536 meters, the hood is the highest point in the municipality of Rudersberg. It is located in the Franconian Forest Nature Park; An absolute must for hikers and mountain bikers. If we look south from up here, the beautiful Wieslauftal and the Berglen lie in front of us, behind them the Schurwald and on the horizon the Swabian Alb, with good visibility as far as Hohenzollern Castle and Lemberg. If we turn west, we see Kallenberg, the Juxkopf and the Stuttgart television tower. If it's clear enough, even the Hornisgrind. Further to the right is the Weissacher Valley with the plain in front of Ludwigsburg. In the north we look at the large forest area from Ochsenhau, Mainhardt Forest to the Löwenstein Mountains. Nestled in it to the east is our neighboring town of Althütte and the Hägerhof. When the weather is clear, we can see the wind turbines of the Ulm and Heidenheim areas to the east, with the Ostalb in front of them. An orientation board on a mighty tree stump, set up by the Mannenberg village community in 2005, explains to the viewer in all directions, both the visible area and all notable points on our earth. On our hood, which was formed as a sand dune millions of years ago, a sand dune was built in 1934 Water reservoir built. Mannenberg received a modern drinking water supply. This milestone in history was duly celebrated with a water festival on the hood. In 1968, the Althütte community built a second water tank on the hood to supply their community. Both containers are covered with a mound of earth and nine 80-year-old birch trees adorn the mountain top, making it appear as an unmistakable highlight, visible from afar. For tired hikers and nature lovers, the village community has in 2015 A stately wooden bench was donated and placed at the highest point. From her the great view can be enjoyed in peace and quiet. Visitors who want to get to the hood quickly can drive to the hiking car park at the transformer house. From there an asphalted dirt road leads to the top, reachable on foot in less than 5 minutes. Anyone who has enjoyed the view on the hood, the early morning fog in the valleys or even a sunset will not quickly forget these moments. Festschrift 700 years of Mannenberg
