Great view and a beautiful hiking trail through the forest

At 1006.4 m above sea level, the Rainen is the fifth highest mountain in the Swabian Alb. It is located about two kilometers east of Deilingen, in whose area it is also located, and forms a mountain range with the mountains Ortenberg (just below the thousand mark), Montschenloch, Bol and Wandbühl. The Rainen is the northernmost peak of this mountain group and the region of the 10 thousand meters. Unlike Bol and Wandbühl, the Rainen is part of the Albtrauf, so that from the northwest it has a clearly visible steep flank several hundred meters high with scree slopes, which it shares with the Ortenberg. Its elongated summit is covered by a spruce forest, the highest point is marked by a summit marker. Well hidden in the forest, accessible via narrow, partly alpine paths and with many views of the Hohenzollern, the Hundsrücken is a worthwhile destination.

Panoramic summit in the immediate vicinity of the Lochenpass car park. The ascent and descent should not be underestimated.

From the parking lot, a steep, almost alpine mountain climb up to the summit cross of the Lochen.

The ascent over the exposed ridge is pure wanderlust. The rooted path, the juniper heath in the southwest below the old beeches offer everything that makes the Alb so fascinating.
