The stairway to heaven and the view from the platform into the valley is very impressive

On the northern edge of the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park lies the idyllic Hennesee near Meschede. A dam approximately 60 meters high and 276 meters long dams the waters of the Henne, a tributary of the Ruhr, forming a lake. In the area of the Hennetalsperre, the Berghauser Bucht (Berghauser Bay), the "beach" to the east near Mielinghausen, and the Knaus Camping Park bathing area at the forebay are ideal for swimming. Swimming is prohibited in all other areas for safety reasons. The Berghauser Bucht is located opposite the dam and offers a spacious lawn for those seeking relaxation. The area is monitored by the DLRG (German Lifesaving Association). After consulting the rescue station, it is possible to dive to a depth of over 30 meters between the beach and the jetty. Beautiful lake... in summer and winter - easy to walk around.

Unfortunately, here as well as at Sorpesee, you have a side along the main road, next time I would stay on the east side for the way there and back.

Nice view of the lake and the valley with the town of Meschede.

A clean, paved cycle path runs for several kilometers on the eastern bank. From there you can see the Hennesee on the left. In front of the dam, it is best to cycle down to the right to Meschede. The road is smoother to drive.
