The Untersee, with its German and Swiss sides, forms a very pleasant landscape for cycling. Small, pretty villages with well-preserved historical places and buildings. The location on the Untersee allows for very varied views at all times of the day and in all weather conditions.

Konstanz, a city with history The oldest traces of settlement date back to the Neolithic period. Finds of a Celtic settlement are known from the 1st century BC, and at the beginning of the 1st century AD the Romans built a fortified complex on what is now the Münster hill. This Roman base developed into an urban settlement in the early Middle Ages, which retained the Roman name "Constantia". From the 6th century to 1827 Konstanz was the seat of the largest German diocese. The city experienced its heyday from the 10th to the 14th century: Konstanz was at the intersection of the trade routes to northern Italy, France and Eastern Europe and became an important trading center for furs, linen and spices. The importance of the city at that time is also reflected in the fact that Konstanz was chosen as the venue for a council in the 15th century. From 1414 to 1418, church representatives from all European countries met in the city and elected Martin V as the new Pope in 1417. In 1527, Konstanz joined the Reformation. Konstanz is so beautiful. A city with lots of students, a very nice old town with historical buildings, a council, sculptures by the artist Lenk such as Imperia, the Lenk fountain in the upper arbor, simply worth seeing.
