Varied tour, partly on good paths through the forest, pleasantly cool and shady even in warm weather.

Fraueninsel Our overview of the unique and charming Fraueninsel in Lake Chiemsee with its famous Benedictine monastery Frauenwörth. Fraueninsel is a neighboring island of Herreninsel in Lake Chiemsee, but is very different from the royal island flair of Herreninsel. It is a very small island (approx. twelve hectares in size) and can be circumnavigated in around 30 minutes. Fraueninsel can be reached all year round with the Chiemsee shipping fleet. Almost 250 residents live in around 50 houses on the car and bicycle-free island. Six families still make a living from fishing. The special island flair is based on the coexistence of culture, religion and tradition: In addition to traditional pottery, fishing businesses and the Benedictine monastery, there are the picturesque and well-kept houses and gardens of the islanders, the inns and beer gardens, the old trees with two linden trees that are over 1000 years old (Marien- and Tassilolinde)
