The Mount Vernon Trail is a beautiful 18-mile paved multi-use trail. It runs from Mount Vernon to Theodore Roosevelt Island. This stretch runs through Daingerfield Island and has great views of the Potomac River.

Founders Park is a great park on the banks of the Potomac River. There are some gravel walking paths that wind through the park.

The Shipbuilder Sculpture is one of the main attractions in Waterfront Park. It is a 10-foot tall bronze statue that pays respect to Alexandria's heritage as a colonial seaport and home to shipbuilding industry.

Shipyard Park is a great, small park along the Potomac River. It has a walking path, seating and picnic areas, and great views of the water.

Waterfront Park in its current state is a combination of the original King Street Park and Waterfront Park sites with the sites of the former Old Dominion Boat Club building and parking lot. The park offers a waterfront promenade and shady picnic structures.

A paved trail goes right through the middle of Oronoco Bay Park and is popular for running, walking, and commuting to and from Alexandria. There are great views of the bay from the path, and there are even a couple small piers within the boundaries of the park.
