The Four Castles Tour in Neckarsteinach takes you to Vorderburg, Mittelburg, Hinterburg, and Schadeck Castle ("Swallow's Nest") 🏰. The route offers magnificent views of the Neckar Valley 🌊, historic walls, and is ideal as a circular walk along the Neckarsteig Trail 🥾—compact, scenic, and steeped in history.

Originally a Celtic refuge, then the Romans arrived, and in the 12th century, a castle was built. It came into the possession of the Electorate of the Palatinate around 1300 and was then intended as a refuge for the ruler and his entourage from Heidelberg in case of emergency. The people of Dilsberger were granted town-like rights and, in return, were obliged to provide accommodations in case of emergency. With the dissolution of the Electorate of the Palatinate in 1803, the castle came into the possession of the state of Baden. In 1822, the castle was approved for demolition. Miltenberg…👍 This is one of our favorite RV parking spots, we like to go on hikes and long bike rides along the Main or through the beautiful vineyards from there… The old town of Miltenberg is also beautiful - we always enjoy going to the wine festival 🚲Greetings from the Wetterau… Simone & Michael🙋🏻🙋♂️

The Swallow's Nest is Schadeck Castle. There are several castles in this area. The castle complex has something to offer not only architecturally, but also botanically. This approx. 300-year-old, seven-meter-tall pine tree grows in the middle of the battlement, defying wind and weather on the barren ground. The real hallmark of the ruin!
