On the Upper Don Valley section of the Trans Pennine Trail, the tunnel is part of the abandoned railway line between Penistone and Wortley. It's lit and super echoy so quite fun to play in. It's also always really cold, so great on a hot summer day.

Indoor and some outdoor pavement seating too. Nice coffee and lovely cakes & tray bake.

Great cafe with excellent coffee

As you near the Peak District, you will experience a transformation in the surroundings. The region is renowned for its scenic hills, valleys, and delightful villages. Appreciate the evolving scenery as you move from urban regions to the rural and undulating terrain of the national park. Anticipate encountering frequent uphill stretches, as this route poses a challenge. At times, the inclines can be quite steep, requiring me to push a bike instead of cycling.

A small, nice pond just off the main trail but easy to miss.

old broken road to a farm! Expect rocky climbs, cattle grids, sheep, a farm and many gates to open and close! Great views out East. Mostly double track or broken road with grass up the middle but can be a bit lumpy in places! Great find!

The BMX trails are currently closed for maintenance but the pub run is still open

Plank Gate is a lot of fun and you can use it to get to and from Stocksbridge

Herries Road is a great place for routes

A quick way to get to and from Oughtibridge

Fairly priced and a nice place to stop there’s also the park just down the road

Classic south Yorkshire market town with a church and a pretty square. A few great coffee options depending on what you like, all of which are cycling friendly.

A small bench at a TPT junction in Oxspring, near Penistone. It always feels like it's a good stop when I'm cycling to or from Barnsley. One autumn there were some wild tomatoes growing between the bench and the fencing behind it.
