The remnants of a much bigger forest, high on a hill. Very atmospheric place.

You do get a view of the distant Welsh Hills from the summit, but you need to stand on the bench to get a good view as the trees are starting to grow and block it out.

Great food and coffee with a Colombian twist. Bikes can parked in Albert Square.

Although originally made up of ancient royal chases and deer parks, the forest we see today was largely planted by the Forestry Commission in the 1920s. It was named after the Mortimer Family, Norman Lords who held power over the region for some 300 years.

The Space Guard Centre is an unexpected find, located here in a remote, dark sky site that is ideal for astronomy. In the daytime it is surrounded with stunning views of the Welsh Marches. The National Near Earth Objects Information Centre is open Wed - Sun.

Beautiful spot to camp. Just off the road by the Mortimer Forest car park and right next to Bringewood. You can ride straight out of the campsite and into Bringewood Forest and start your adventure ride without touching tarmac :-) Really friendly hosts and super clean showers and toilet facilities.

This stretch of lane is utterly idyllic. Quiet with far-reaching views into England and Wales. A great descent that goes on for ages. Much tougher the other way, of course.
