Stylish pedestrian and cycle bridge over the B 27 with a view of the Swabian Alps - Dußlingen - Tübingen district

The Ann Arbor Bridge (formerly the West Cycle Bridge) provides a connection exclusively for cyclists between the Mühlbachäcker administrative center and Europastraße, which leads to the main train station. It spans the railway tracks, connects to a cycle roundabout on the Europastraße side at the edge of the park, and is linked to the Blue Ribbon cycle route. Together with the cycle tunnel through Schlossberg, the bridge forms a continuous north-south axis extending to the University Hospital Berg. The bridge is approximately 365 meters long, four meters wide, and eleven meters high at its highest point. For corrosion protection, the surface can be heated to 2-3 °C during freezing temperatures, thus eliminating the need for de-icing salt, which can damage the steel structure. This significantly extends the bridge's lifespan and ultimately reduces CO2 emissions. The bridge also provides protection from ice and snow during freezing conditions, thus reducing the need for snow removal services. The bridge will serve as a base for swings in the pirate-themed playground, which is yet to be rebuilt. The designated brackets are already visible on the underside of the bridge. The cycle bridge is part of an infrastructure initiative to close the gaps in the city center's cycle path network identified in the 2010 cycling concept.
