Isel Bridge, located near Setmurthy in the northern Lake District, is an elegant Grade II-listed bridge that spans the River Derwent. Binsey is a freestanding hill in the northern Lake District, north of Bassenthwaite Lake. At 447 meters high, it's one of the smaller fells, but the views from the summit are surprisingly impressive. Crossing over the Ouse Bridge, the water rushes from the Derwent River to the west into Bassenthwaite to the east. The location of Bassenthwaite in the quieter northern end of the national park can make this a more tranquil lake to visit.

Great blue mountain bike route that is definitely suitable for gravel bikes! Nothing too narley. Nice and flowing single track with a good surface. Keep some speed in check on switchbacks but other than that all good!

Over Water is a beautiful, remote tarn nestled beneath the fells of Binsey, Great Cockup and Longlands.

Set in a renovated station with a full size replica steam train, Bassenthwaite Lake Station cafe also serves good coffee, with bike-friendly outdoor seating Open every day 9-5.

Bassenthwaite Lake station has been renovated & turned into a great place to stop for food & drink - you can even have your breckky on the train (if you book)

From this delightful little bridge and its surroundings at the northern end of Bassenthwaite is a wonderful view of the North and North Western Lakeland Fells. Bassenthwaite's location in the north of the national park makes it quieter than the likes of Ullswater, Derwent Water and Windermere. However, it is technically the only lake in the Lake District, the others being meres and waters.
