The Ķemeri Water Tower stands out from the green park landscape with its striking red facade. Originally built in 1929, it served to supply water to the historic spa town and is now a popular tourist destination. The view from the tower offers a fascinating view of the Ķemeri area and its dilapidated buildings, reminiscent of the spa town's former heyday. In good weather, the climb is worthwhile and opens up a unique perspective on the surrounding forests and the hidden secrets of this historic place.

The landscape park of Kemeri with a network of winding tracks along Versupite river was projected and 1839 started to develop by Karl Heinrich Wagner, a gardener of Riga. The development and improvement of the part was continuous during the next hundred years. After the erection of Kemeri hotel in year 1936, a symmetrical parterre with lawns, flower plantations and alleys was created in its western part. Walks in the park were deemed to be one of prerequisites for recovery of patients. Across the river Versupite there are multiple small bridges created with a names given such as: The Bridge of “Sighs”, Bridge of “Whims”, “Musical Bridge” etc. The Kemeri park is one of the oldest and major public parks in terms of covered area in Latvia outside Riga. In the 1930s the total length of the walkways reached 15 km, and it was even possible to cross the river Versupite and canals with small dinghies.

The 42-meter-high construction was built in 1929 by the architect Friedrich Skujins. It is an architectural monument of national significance. Inside the recently restored tower, the historical exhibition of Kemeri is located. You can climb up the tower and visit the exhibition daily from 10am to 6pm, the admission is free.

Plan to stay a bit, the view from the plateform is great and you can loose notion of the time observing the numerous birds taking off and landing on the lake.

Getting to the top is free, but you should book your visit, as slots are limited.

The Kemeri Water Tower is a part of Latvia's industrial heritage, an architectural monument of state importance and the only water tower in Latvia that combines its basic function - providing water management services - with public use. The Kemeri Water Tower is located in Jurmala, 32 Tukuma Street in the Kemeri Culture and History Park. The tourist information center is located in the water tower.
