Church Village is a tiny hamlet next to the Yellow River. It is well placed on the Larganmore Loop as a place to rest, but don't expect to find much here. The views of the river and churchyard are very pretty though.

Walking near the Callow Loughs offer superb views of the loughs - very peaceful, but also very green everywhere here. If you need peace and quiet, you need not look any further; you are in the right place.

Upper Bridge provides lovely views across Ballina, with the impressive spire of St. Muredach's Cathedral particularly prominent. The bridge takes you across the River Moy, a well-known salmon river. Every July, the town hosts the Ballina Salmon Festival.

Known for its salmon fishing, Ballina is a pretty town on the River Moy. There's plenty to do: the Connacht Distillery provides a taste of craft whisky and the riverside Arts Centre offers plenty for culture vultures to get their beak into. The town is on the Western Way long-distance trail and is the last major settlement before the end point beyond Windy Gap on the Mayo/Sligo border.

The road passes so close to Lough Cullin, it would be rude not to stop for a break at this viewpoint. It's shallow waters are a popular fishing spot for both trout and salmon.

Crossmolina is a pretty quiet town and comes equipped with a popular bakery and pub making it a perfect spot for a pitstop.

You can climb through the narrow gap in the wall to take a closer look at the 13th century Ballylahan Castle. It is rumoured that a tunnel connects the castle with earby Straide Abbey. Both were built by Jordan De Exeter.

A ride up to Barnageehy or 'Windy' Gap will reward you with fantastic views of Mount Nephin. There is a viewpoint where you can take some time off the road to fully appreciate your surroundings.
