Best visited in the afternoon to take advantage of the better sunshine. Be careful, however, as the cliff edge can be very dangerous on rainy or windy days. These black cliffs, composed of layers of sandstone and moss-covered slate where thousands of birds nest, are among Ireland's most spectacular natural sites. Their dizzying height (approximately 200 meters at the top, near the tower, and over 8 kilometers long) makes you feel so small that you forget the presence of other tourists, even though they are numerous.

Admission was collected at the parking lot in June 2025. Nothing was checked during our visit. The entrance building was not in use.

It’s a climb, gets a tad steep just before the right turn - and it’s sharp right - stay on tarmac, do not be lured by the gravel track also on the right!

Leamaneh Castle in County Clare is a historic ruin featuring a 15th-century tower house and a 17th-century mansion, with strong ties to Irish folklore. While not open to the public, visitors can admire its exterior from the roadside near Kilnaboy.

This stone desert is interrupted by lush green fields, while the striking geological formations of Doonmore Hill dominate the scene in the background. There is something magical about the stark beauty of this region, and as I rode my road bike along the gently rising roads, I could hardly take my eyes off the varied shapes and colours. The dry stone walls that can be seen everywhere here tell of the long history of agriculture in this area and reinforce the feeling of being in an almost surreal environment.

There is something truly magical about the Cliffs of Moher. On the stretch between Doolin and Liscannor, the road rises dramatically while the ocean rages far below you and the cliffs fall impressively into the depths. Even if you are on a road bike, it is worth stopping and walking for a short while to really appreciate the dimensions of this landscape. But even from the saddle you have a great view of this fascinating scenery. The fresh sea breeze and the thunder of the waves underline the wild beauty of this coast. Even though it is often well visited, the cliffs are an absolute must on your tour, and not just as a photo opportunity.
