Nestled beneath the splendor of the Caha Mountains in West Cork, and just a short distance from the islands of Bantry Bay, the small and characterful village of Glengarriff on the Wild Atlantic Way is the gateway to the Beara Peninsula (the third of the peninsulas in southwest Ireland).

This isn't really a lake, it's an arm of the Lauragh channel from the Kenmare River. The bridge creates the lake and allows access from Lauragh along the coast.

Originally a coaching inn dating back to the mid 18th century, today An Síbín is a delightful wine bar and cafe, with rooms for those exploring the Beara Peninsula. Situated at the foot of the Healy Pass, it's well located for the wider region and is a good place to stop during the Beara Way long-distance trail.

Fun road on the way to the Healy Pass. We’ll see faces and lots of chances to go fast. The road is busy with cars but going west - east there was a decent shoulder most of the way.

I rode from the South to North. I’d love to do it the other way next time as the visibility for oncoming vehicles would probably be better. Super fun ride with amazing views!

Fun road to ride. There’s a great cafe next to the gas station as you come into Ardgroom with really tasty baked goods, tea, coffee, and beers!
