Königssee is a mountain lake located largely within Berchtesgaden National Park. Nestled between the steep slopes of the Watzmann and Hagen Mountains, this elongated lake, along with the smaller Obersee lake to the southeast – around which the Steinernes Meer forms the valley's edge – has a fjord-like character. From the Königssee parking lot, a path leads past the picturesque boathouses into the national park. Past the former Café Malerwinkl, the walk leads to the so-called Malerwinkel (Painter's Corner). This hike is also very popular as a winter walk, as the path to Malerwinkl is cleared and gritted during these times.

Beautiful series of trails with so much to enjoy! Very well-maintained and accessible as well. The only "roadblocks" you encounter might be some grazing cattle along your way :)
