The Butzer See South bathing area is the second and larger official bathing area on Butzer See. In summer, especially on weekends, it gets quite crowded.

The "Berlin Balcony" is an undeveloped hillside on the border between the Berlin districts of Kaulsdorf and Mahlsdorf. In 2004, a path, funded by the EU with €900,000, was built across the eastern part of the Berlin Balcony. This path forms part of the Am Barnimhang cycling and hiking trail. It begins at the intersection of Kressenweg and Elsenstraße and leads to a centrally located viewpoint. A wooden sculpture there commemorates the post mill that stood on the site from 1808 to 1936. At the viewpoint, the path splits: to the north, it leads to the B1/B5 highways; to the south, it leads to Elsenstraße and to the Mahlsdorf Manor Park with its Gründerzeit Museum to the east. Won't be enough on weekends in summer, even if there's room for 60 cars.

2024: Only a few of the wooden steles in most of the photos are still there and they have been (as seems to be standard in Berlin) defaced as much as possible. Sad.

Unfortunately, people bathe on the banks, relieve themselves in the surrounding bushes and sometimes on the paths, and leave a lot of rubbish behind. It's deplorable.

There was a forced labor camp for Eastern workers here. The history of the property is shown on the steals: it is very easy to understand where the workers came from, the conditions, that work was mainly to be done on the Reichsbahn. There is information about the security guards and which companies benefited from them. Opposite on the other side of Wuhle, where the camp was located, two former barracks still exist and are now used privately. This makes the story tangible.
