現在のシャルムッツェル湖フェラーパークの敷地は、波乱に満ちた歴史を振り返ります。1969年にはすでにテントとキャンプ場があり、1973年には最大1,280人の若者を収容できるユースセンター（JEZ）の建設が始まりました。 1977年には320床の常設バンガローで部分的にオープンし、1978年にはさらに50棟の木製バンガローが追加されました。独自の港、7つの飲食店、人気のシルフハウスを備えたJEZは、DDRで最大のユースツーリズム施設となりました。 再統一後、センターは1994年に解体されました。1996年から、住宅およびレクリエーションパークへの再設計が始まりました。2000年には、スカンジナビアンスタイルの最初のデンマーク製木造住宅が建設され、現在のシャルムッツェル湖フェラーパークの始まりとなりました。 2003年には、歴史的な港の周りに85戸の住宅ユニットを備えたマリーナパークが続きました。このように、フェラーパークは今日、東ドイツの歴史の一部と現代的なレクリエーションを水辺で結びつけています。

The village church was rebuilt around 1882, using building materials from the old fieldstone structure dating back to the 13th century. The original part of this fieldstone church includes the preserved east gable with its lancet windows and the nine fitted checkerboard stones. The relatively high number of these ornamental stones used is unique in Germany.

The bike path has a lot of root damage and is very winding with a few small climbs. Absolutely not recommended for road bikes - avoid if possible.

This simple yet charming pedestrian bridge marks one of the most beautiful crossings of the Spree south of Neuendorf am See – a place that doesn't impose itself loudly, but quietly seduces. Ideal for hikers seeking the water and for paddlers who trust the river's flow. For hikers: The bridge is a hub on regional walking and hiking trails – those coming from the center of Neuendorf will encounter an almost meditative scenery: reflective water, wide meadows, gently rustling willows. Particularly rewarding at sunrise or in the evening hours, when the sky and landscape merge into one. For canoeists: From a kayak, the bridge appears almost sculptural. It spans the Spree with a gentle sweep, signaling: Here the river flows gently, but not without depth. A good opportunity for a rest, as there are shallow spots along the bank for landing. If you like, you can dock briefly and climb the few steps up to the bridge – the view is worth it.
