As is typical on canals, you drive straight ahead without much variation. The path was bumpy in places, then rolled along as if by itself – totally different sections. The bushes weren't trimmed at the time and in some places they were so in the way that you could only drive one behind the other. There are plenty of benches, and on the day we visited (a Saturday in July), it was extremely deserted. This section wasn't the big highlight for me, but maybe a small one 😁

The bronze figure depicts a coachman. As a historical companion, he is meant to embody the era when horses and carriages were still the ultimate means of transportation. The lord of the manor of Pressentin (1804–1848) was hard-hearted, rich, and stingy. He raced across the fields in a simple ladder wagon. To punish his men, however, he kept a special "Slüter" (locksmith, jailer). He was supposed to whip the day laborers if the lord believed they had transgressed against him. One day, the ladder wagon suddenly stopped on a sloping path. Impatiently, the lord snatched the whip from the coachman's hand and tried to strike him. At the same moment, the lord fell dead and lay there for a long time.

The drawbridge is currently closed. It can't be opened. Therefore, the waterway is currently impassable for larger boats in both directions. The bike path along the Stör Waterway isn't affected by this, however. For the "Störkrug" restaurant, it's a good idea to read the Google reviews and get an idea. The path along the water is "natural or gravel, with coarse gravel in the lower section, like in the Lüneburg Heath or similar areas." 🙃

The view is magnificent. The castle ruins are in poor condition. Everything's been smeared by some scumbags. Inside, it looks like something from under the sofa.
