The then-chairman of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany, Wolfgang Huber (together with Cardinal Karl Lehmann, chairman of the German Bishops' Conference), wrote the following in an ecumenical book project on the 'Good News' (the translation of the word 'Gospel') according to the Gospel of John, regarding the crucifixion of Christ: + “This new connection… under the cross and through this death therefore already points beyond the mood of Good Friday. In this farewell, the seed of a new beginning already appears. THE CROSS ILLUMINS A HOPE that does not separate people from one another, but unites them.
