"The Stone GTI" refers to a monument in the shape of a VW Golf GTI, made of granite, located in Reifnitz on Lake Wörthersee. It commemorates the long-standing GTI meet that took place there for many years. Although the meet moved to Wolfsburg in 2024, the Stone GTI remains a symbol of GTI culture and the history of the meet at Lake Wörthersee. The monument was carved from a 25-ton block of granite and erected at its current location in 1987 after being pulled to Reifnitz by thousands of people. The Stone GTI is a popular photo subject and an integral part of the memories of the GTI meet at Lake Wörthersee, which took place there until 2022. The GTI meet, held in Reifnitz from 1982 to 2022, was a significant event for GTI fans from all over the world. The event featured a variety of activities, including car meets, exhibitions, and a lively atmosphere that attracted tens of thousands of visitors. The Lindwurm Fountain on Neuer Platz is Klagenfurt's most famous landmark. The chlorite slate figure was created at the end of the 16th century and commemorates the legend of the defeated Lindwurm. The fountain basin, wrought iron railing, and Hercules statue were added later. The fountain has been restored and relocated several times, most recently in 1972. Today, it stands as a symbol of history, myth, and identity in the heart of the city.
