Cute place, good option for cyclists to stay overnight.

It's big but not blow your socks off big

This place actually has racks for the bicycles which is great. It’s one of the few (the only one?) places along the way until you get to Paeroa down the Hauraki Rail Trail. I wasn’t too impressed with the packed cheese available considering that it’s called the cheese barn but the ice creams and the coffee were good and they sell their own organic milk and some other products you might not see much around.

Here you are in the small town of Pareoa, known mainly for its sparkling lemon drink "Lemon & Pareoa". The original idea dates back to 1907. It is a drink made from a source of naturally sparkling water mixed with lemon juice. The company was bought by the giant Coca-Cola. Paeroa is very close to the natural site of the Karangahe gorges and that is what makes this locality attractive to me.

Located between the mouth of the Waihou River and the locality of Puriri The "Matatoki Cheese Barn" is a barn transformed into a very welcoming place, where you will be served excellent coffee, a hearty meal and as its name the indicates succulent cheeses. For your comfort, tables are set up in front of the shop. In good weather, it is a real pleasure to stop here. Cyclists are warmly welcomed.

Worth the visit, great food, tasty coffee, awesome cheese and cycle friendly. There are racks for bikes and good local knowledge. Tell all cyclists to see if it is open on the way past!

Great cafe, nice atmosphere. Plenty of outside seating for sunny days, limited inside seating. Great room for parking bikes!
