Grimstad impresses with its many white wooden houses and narrow streets. The Grimstad archipelago consists of pretty islands and islets. In season, boats (sometimes huge luxury yachts) swarm between the archipelago and in the guest harbour.

The Aust-Agder Maritime Museum is located in Hasseldalen, on Violin Bay. There were shipyards and shipping companies here for over 150 years. Hasseldalen's and Aust-Agder's important seafaring history is presented in the museum today.
