Eidsborg Stave Church was built between 1250 and 1270 and is one of 28 surviving stave churches in Norway - a rarity! In the Middle Ages there were more than 1000 stave churches in Norway. The stave churches are counted as the Norwegian contribution to world architecture.

At the bottom of Vradal is a beach and hotel

Here, next to the old lock, there is a small museum explaining the function and meaning of the locks, as well as information about wood rafting.

The beautiful stave church was built in the middle of the 13th century. It can be visited as part of a guided tour. Tickets are available in the adjacent Vest Telemark Museum. Particularly interesting are the paintings on the interior walls.
