Ellettsville, Indiana, is a historic town with architecture of the past. There are a bunch of coffee shops and restaurants along with plenty of small shops. The town serves as the northern terminus of the Karst Farm Greenway.

The Limestone Greenway is a pretty new trail that is completely paved. It's only 1.7 miles each direction, but it connects to a bunch of other gravel and paved paths that stretch more miles in different directions. The trail is in Monroe County, but it's far enough outside the city that it isn't usually super crowded.

This lake is part of the Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge, which is home to many rare and endangered species of plants and animals. You can enjoy the views of the lake and the surrounding forest, as well as the sounds of Cherry Creek, which flows into the Delaware River. Cherry Lake is a great place to experience the natural beauty and wildlife diversity of Pennsylvania’s Cherry Valley.

The Low Gap Trail creates a loop within the Morgan-Monroe State Forest. The loop covers some ground in the forest's backcountry and is sure to offer some solitude.

Relax under the shade of trees near the shelter house and enjoy a delicious picnic with family or friends. Keep an eye out for diverse birdlife, turtles, and other wildlife around the lake.

Griffy Reservoir is the result of the damming of Griffy Creek and is the heart of the Griffy Lake Nature Preserve. There is a great view of the water (whose level is dependent on the time of year) from the bridge. You also get a lot of views from the trails on the banks of the water.

The Terrill Ridge Cemetery is maintained by the US Park Services at Hoosier National Forest. The small family cemetery hosts a variety of weathered headstones from the late 1800s. It shows the history of the Axsom family, who lived in the nearby hills.

The Hickory Ridge Lookout Tower was constructed in 1936 in order to aid the National Park Service in spotting forest fires. The tower was manned for almost 40 years, until modern technologies superseded the need for human lookouts. The tower still stands as an observation point, and anyone who wants to scale the 133 steel steps will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.
