This is actually a collection of several small pools that can range from gray to turqoise in color. There used to be geyser activity here and, although the water is still notably warm, it's cooled from its previous peak temperatures.

Sour Lake is located in Yellowstone National Park and is a highly acidic body of water. The lake's extreme acidity is because of the microorganisms that live in it; they convert high levels of sulfur in the area into sulfuric acid. This process not only makes the water highly corrosive but also contributes to the lake's distinctive blue color. Sour Lake is not suitable for swimming or any direct contact due to its dangerous acidity so please only take photos and stay on the designated path.

Clear Lake is a lovely spot located in Yellowstone National Park and is mostly commonly accessed via the Ribbon Lake Trail. This is a great place to stop, eat a snack, and take in the views over the clear blue water. Be warned, like many spots around the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, grizzly bears have been known to frequent this area.

Very easy to reach on the flat wooden walkway, very hot on sunny days

Grebe Lake is one of the larger reservoirs in this backcountry area. There are a bunch of different primitive campsites around the reservoir that offer different perspectives of the water. This is a great place to see the wildlife that call Yellowstone home.
